So i just build a new stand, and my 57 tank is tiny on the huge stand i built, so im thinking its a good time to upgrade, my stand is 43l and 26w so i may do a diy acrylic but my question is how think of acrylic would i need? Tank will still be 21" high the total volume will be 116the gallons if i do it! Any suggestions on places to get acrylic? And have it pre cut mainly bc i dont have the tools to cut and smooth the edges

I am sorry but I don't know anything about DIY acrylic. I have a 100 gallon acrylic tank and I love it!

Where did you get your ATO?

I picked up my 100 gallon with the stand/canopy and sump/refugium plus plumping for 300 bucks. I kind of lean toward buying a made tank!

Whatever you decide, don't give up. I have had a number of crazy things occur, this is what helps us to learn/improve

I got it from marine depot, and its been about 6 times now, and right now im in an apt and at 25 gallons a pop.. its alot of water and work... im building a house next summer and am going to do a bigger tank and was planning on using the one i build/buy for the sump, but i wanted to establish everything here so i have something to put in the new tank... but im just at the breaking point...

I'll tell you what I've learned about acrylic so far....

    1. It scratches easy....so watch the rocks on the sides.
    2. It's plastic, so I wouldn't but "flat" edge pieces unless they were half an inch for the size you are looking at. (look at all the LFS acrylic Tanks with the 'curled' edges, you don't see that with glass)
3.Acrylic and LED are in the same Genre.....They both look Good, so long as they are put on the same credit card....And Definitely Not Mine...LOL

I would get away from the ATO for now. Seems like something just isn't going your way with it. What kind of lighting do you have? with the possible exception of Medal Halide the evaporation from your 57 shouldn;t be so bad you couldn't manually add a gallong of water or so every 3 or so days. this is what I do with my LED lights.

Exciting new build (both house and tank)! I think using your current or "new" current setup it spot on for starting the tank at your nw home.

    Pics?

if i could get one made, i would 100% jump on it, and then just use it for a sump later on, but i see what your saying on the scratching, and curling.. after awhile it doesnt look very nice. plus id have to even more careful to make sure it doesnt scratch.
