i bought a potters angelfish on saturday and ive seen him picking algae off the rocks pretty much all day. He has taken little intrest in pellet food and has only eaten 2 pellets. I am wondering if this will continue and if it will be able to support itself on algae or will it eventually be relient on pellet food

a fish should never rely solely on one or 2 sources of food IMO, did you try nori? what about what you feed your other fish? does it show interest in that?

Try frozen foods, mysis, garlic laced brine, chopped mussels, nori, etc etc.

Potters can be finnicky eaters. They are pickers but you should definitely try some frozen mysis or brine. When I got my Potters at my LFS, I made them feed it in front of me to make sure it was taking to frozen foods. Mine loves mysis, I would try some of that.

Many people call them an "expert" fish. This is because they are picky eaters. Good to make sure they are eating prepared food before buying. If possible, find out if it was and exactly what it was eating, this could help speed things along. It is not uncommon for it to take a while though, but some, never do. Once they do start eating, they are actually fairly easy though.

They do need some type of sponge in their diet also.
