power head placemen

hello thanks for taking the time to look at this thread i have a korilala 3 and a eheim ecco 2236 i want to know the best placement to get optimal flow. i might be getting a mixi jet 1200 form dethco for 20 new. it would be great if you guys helped me with the maxi and with out.

it's really hard to say where to put it. It depends on your flow pattern which depends on where your rocks are. I like to have at least one power head facing the surface to agitate the water. It's really going to be trial and error. I have a korlia 1 and 3 on either side of my 55. I also have a return on the back.

Being able to diffuse the water stream comming out of your powerheads will afford the most amount of turbulence and cover more volume within your tank. Yes, as mentioned above, the position of your rock work and also types of corals you eventually buy will have some impact on your water flow. By creating aggitation at the top of your tank at the water/air surface interface will allow a better exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen gas into your water.
Using a SCWD or Flo Deflector(Koralia) and even facing the powerheads to bank off the glass will help you out significantly!
