Hello all, new to the forum and reef keeping. Recently setup a 29 gallon biocube with LEDs. 25lbs of live rock, 20lbs of live sand. Running the stock pump with a Hydor Koralina 425 both blowing towards each other.(Both powerhead and pump blow towards top front of tank) No livestock in the tank yet. Is this enough flow? There is flow behind the rocks, just not as much as the rest of the tank is getting. I was thinking about getting another 425, or maybe even a 240. I know dead spots can cause issues over time so I wanna get this right from the get go. What do you guys think of my situation? Thanks in advance, awaiting your input. - Bill

I have a JBJ 28 and have two 425 nano's too supplement the stock pumps. I have LPS and SPS, and all are doing great :)

I have an almost identical set up with the same pump positions running right now. I would say that the flow is adequate for LPS, but I think that SPS might require more flow. The one thing I did was put a hydor flo rotator on the pump return and upgrade the stock return pump to a maxi jet 1200, and I think that it made a huge difference. about 40-50 dollar upgrade, I think its worth it though!

It really comes down to he coral you plan to keep.

It's good flow for softies and LPS, imo. I'm sure people have success otherwise, and it depends on the species, but I would add another 600-700 gph if you go SPS heavy.

I have about 1,000 GPH in my 20 with mostly SPS.
