Depends on the wattage of the powerheads which will be dependent on the manufacturer of the PH.

You can always manually agitate the water by scooping it up and slowly dumping back in - creates current and surface agitation.

For heat (if your tank is getting cold) you can boil water or even use hot tap water in tupperware containers or thick plastic, watertight bags and float them - change often.

also depends on the APC UPS model as they all have different run times. The run times with given wattage are available on APC's website.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
When I have a shorter power outage I just remove some tank water into a gallon container and pour it back into the tank to keep the oxygen levels up. I try to pour it about 6 inches above the surface to create as much surface agitation as possible.

    Hope that helps.

Sorry, I was not very clear, I meant how long will it last as far as running the power heads at the top for gas exchange tank wise not APC wise. The temp is fine the house is warm, temp hasnt moved in 2 plus hours yet. As long as I have the powerheads moving water at the surface the fish and stuff should be ok for a few hours right?

This is an awesome product that automatically senses when the power turns off and kicks on. PS remove the airstone and rubberband the hose down on a piece of rubble (or unplug the unit weekly to blast out the bacteria biofilm that will grow on the airstone). penn plax b11 - Google Search

Oh gotcha - for a few hours - I can't imagine you would have any problems if your temp is basically stable and you have surface agitation for oxygenation.

Thank you ocean, If we do not get an acceptable update soon we are going to home depot to rent a 6500 watt honda generator for the day. Its hard to spend 600 on a generator when in the 14 years ive lived here the power has only been out more 3 hours at most and that was only twice.
