Just started buying everything i need to start my 29g tank and was just wondering about powerheads, im planning on keeping soft corals and just a pair of clowns at first.

Do i need two? and what model would you advise, ive heard Koralia suggested on here as a decent brand but not sure just which ones to buy

thanks for any info or suggestions

i use koralia and they do the job. you cant really get flow wrong, its abit like aquascaping. here are some tips however

yes you do need more than one (or again personally i would)

you want to have at least one of the powerheads pointing to the surface, creating movement on the water surfce, this helps with gas exchange and oxygenates the water.

my setup is the following, i have a grand total of 6 PH in my 120 gallon, 2 big ones (cant give you the water movement rate off my head but they are big) in opposite corners pointing upwards and towards eachother. when the two streams meet it creates a random current in the middle of my tank, where my torch and clowns are and they both love it!!

then i have one small PH hidden in my rock work in the middle of the tank, and a couple other small ones lower down the tank to gently brush the substrate.

you should try to avoid "dead spots" in your tank, meaning places where there is a complete absence of current. if there is try to make it happen in a place where you can easily siphon any uneaten food and or crunk that will eventually end there.

    bonne chance!

What kind of filter you using? .. I ask because if your using a canister or return pump from a sump, this will be a source of flow also....mild, yes, but flow all the same...get yourself a 1050...then you have a nice pump to upgrade to when decide to go to a bigger tank !! : )
j/k...I wouldn't go no bigger than 1050...and smaller if your going to do 2 of them. jmo

I'm building a 29 gal now and I'm considering 2 Hydor Koralia Nano Evolution 425's.
There are a few reviews on BRS where folks seem to be happy with 2 of these in their 29 gallons.

Ive got a internal Biobox filter that came with my tank and a tunze 9002k skimmer. i think the filter is meant for a none marine tank but the guy at my LFS said it would work perfectly if i replaced the sponges etc with live rock. Any opinion on that?
