I didn't realize until this morning that I had a powerstrip with 3 timed outlets on it. It is an old school aquarium strip so there is just a knob that controls the activation period for each outlet. Needless to say I used the strip because I don't have a wavemaker. Here's the question: Will putting my powerheads on this rotation cause them to wear out faster because they will be turned on and off so often? Thanks.

I really doubt it, To be honest most Electronic equipment has a lifetime based on hours. At least computers do, just like a car for example will your car die faster if it is started and stoped all day long? I would think the starter would but if you are doing it 2 to 3 times a day I doubt it will do any real harm.

Just my 2 cents on it. From what I read though they only complain about dry starts.

Hi nano, from what I've read, most power heads are not meant for what you want to do. You should contact the manufacturer and specifically ask them.

those strips were intended to only be used with maxijets if it's the one I"m thinking of and yeah it'll cause a little bit more wear but not enough that it's noticable

Very good question. Ive wondered the same. It being such a cheaper alternative, had to be too good to be true!

I have had three Maxi-jet 1200 running on that same power strip/timer for almost a year now and they are still working fine . They might crap out tommorow ? But for now I would recomend them .
