i recently bought a powerhead for my 20 high tank. where should i place it? where should the head be pointing is the better question. i have a pulsing xenia and i was wondering, if it is drifting to side to side from the powerhead, is that irritating it? or does it prefer more calm?

    thanks,
    ryan

    ps
the pic and all the info. in my sig. is not accurate will update all asap.

try placing it is a top corner facing diagonally, just make sure it doesn't blow directly on a coral, if it is to turbulent try another place. I like to have mine facing up to disturb the water for better oxygenation, but try it facing down and up, see what works better for you.

its a PENGUIN 550 submersible power head. its really a nice powerhead. i can make bubbles come out if i want and even control the number of bubbles. its a great source of water flow and oxygen. is this a good one?

Yeah, I would go with guitarman's suggestion. Its kinda hard setting it up with one, specially with a powerhead with such a narrow flow.

when will coraline grow in my tank? i recently took down my 10 gal and upgraded to a 20 gal tall. my ten was no more than a all fish tank with liverock in it for like 8 months. i just within a month got the lights i needed and now have little coral but it NEVER got caroline. will my new tank get caroline? it went through a really little cycle but thats all its going to go through cause i took all the stuff from the old tank to the new ones and the water parameters are perfect. when should i expect it? all i have for coral is a little rock with 6 different frags on it. 3 of which are pulsing xenia stalks, and 3 zoas.

    thanks a bunch,
    ryan

You need to seed the system to get coralline growth if you do not have any and make sure you cal and mag is good and it will grow.

you have to have some coralline in the tank to grow more, but with the new lighting if you have any alive it will spread as long as the tank stays healthy
