So I did a water change yesterday. I never had nitrate problems, but my test kit ran out a couple months ago so it has been a while since I tested. Well, I tested PO4 and it is only .2, and nitrates were ZERO. I'm pretty happy. I have only been doing water changes every 6 weeks or so. Probably go to 2 months.

Bad thing is that I for got to plug my heater back in. When I realized before I went to bed, it was down to 73. This morning it had only managed to climb back to 76. :(

Taking some pics of the tank.

Here is my clam. Had him a couple of months. Spreads out during the day, but this shows good growth.

My prizim favia under actinics. Getting fat and over growing the frag plug.

The only thing not doing well in my tank. Was dark purple and bright green. My Acan. I moved it up in the tank, now it is back on the sand. Hope it pulls through.

Don't know why this guy decided to take a stroll, but figured I would take a pic while he was out. I have a toin of spaghetti worms.

My buddy has a 48"x30"x29", 180 gallon tank. If I ever upgrade, that will be it. It's acrylic, which I'm not crazy about, but the dimensions are breathtaking. IMO every aspect of it is perfect. He's got a single 400W halide about 18" above, dead center. All the LR is mounded up dead center too. I think he has 4 Koralia 4s, and it rocks. He paid $800 on craigslist for it and he loves it.

    I love it too.

That is awesome. I want a 30x24. Not sure whether to do a 5 foot 180g, or a 4 foot 150. But 30x29... that must be awesome to watch fish swim in.

Great price. I just priced a Deep Sea Aquatics standard plain 185. (60x30x24) $1300 and that is without the extras I want. The 90 will have to grow out first though. However, looking at others doing the move.... wow, lot's of work.

Local guy has one of the deep sea 185's and it is beautiful. All SPS / higher end LPS. You would be very satisfied with that tank

By the way, your tank is looking awesome. Hope the acans get better.

No kidding.... I would love some pics if you could ever get some.

Can't figure the Acan out. The frag tank was well lit, so I put it midway when I got it. It looked OK, feeds extends, but not that good. So I moved it up... I think that was bad. So now I moved it low to see if it will recover. Everything else I have is doing great. The mother colony is awesome. This one is a tough one.

I'll see if I can get pics. It should be on a magazine cover or something.

I have my acans in lower light, very bottom of the tank. When I got them they had 2 polyps stung off by another coral at the LFS. Since my tank has stablized a bit and the temp is under control the two polyps have regrown and the rest have fluffed up. See below - they've done great in lower light. I would keep yours at the bottom, JMO.

Actually this caused me to inspect mine a bit. It's got new polyps and the colony is trying to grow off the rock it's on  I need to get this on another rock so it can spread. lol

Cool. The farmer had his close to the halide, so on his advice I didn't think it was a big deal. But ya, most folks keep theirs low so it isn't like they don't do well. I'm sure it will do OK. Got the new actinics too so maybe just too much. I got some Reef Nutrition Oyster eggs and Rotifers so I think it will bounce back.

Having dealt with a few tanks that tall, I would not get a tank that tall. I am 6'4" with long arms and I still think that height is a pain to deal with.

So, when I built my 200g plywood tank, I made it 62" L x 30 deep x 24 tall. If you want a big tank, and don't want, or can't do a 6 footer, get a 5 foot that is 30" deep. That extra depth gives a ton of room for aquascaping.

Ya, I really love the depth. Even 4 foot 120gs are cool. Not enough of a move from a 90g though. I want more open rock work not stacked against the back wall.
