Hey guys, i just got a new anemone today and it was perfectly healthy when i placed it in the tank and for several hours afterwards. i acclimated him properly to the tank so i am 99% sure that is not his problem.. however when i came back home after about 30 minutes i came back to him shriveled up and brown like pellet looking objects coming out of his mouth... i will attach a picture... can anyone tell me what is wrong with him? should i take him back to the store and get them to give me my money back for him?

What kind of lighting do you have? Sometimes thats normal, its getting adjusted to the tank. Wait for 2-6 days more and see if it gets better. Have you tested your water?

Sometimes the stress of moving them will cause this to happen. Did you watch the LFS person to make sure the foot was pushed gently off whatever it was stuck to to ensure it didn't get ripped or bruised? Give it a couple of more days.

My LFS has a no Guarantee policy on their saltwater stuff :( But if it is in good condition they might give you 20 percent of what their normal selling price is.

my anemone did the same thing on day one. she might be expelling her last meal.. give it at least two days... she has to settle in .. make sure if you have an exposed filter that you cover it with sponge ( i lost one that way when she moved).

anemones favor VERY CLEAN WATER so if you do not have a protein skimmer up and running you might find yourself doing 20% water changes twice a week.

let her move around until she connects to a piece of live rock where there is moderate current.. you could also try to entice her with some fresh fish.. i get a small piece of fresh salmon and dice it very finely then mix it in with some tank water in a bowl to let the salt soften it. then with a turkey baster gently put the food around her outer and next layer tenticles... I bet she opens up and starts to eat..

as for the remaining salmon put it in the freezer and then every other day using a grater run the salmon over it about 8 times.. consistency comes out fine.. mix with tank water in a bowl and feed..

anemones are fun but they do need to be pampered ( i.e. environment and light).. good luck. let me know

All anemones when placed into new water will invert, Totally and expel all the water with in themselves and they are 99.99% water then after they flush out they will uptake the new water to get adjusted to.. This can take up to a week.. and less sometimes looks to me thats what yours is doing also with anemones if where you want them stay and put them is not to their liking they will do what you sebae looks to be doing and blow around the bottom until they find the spacial spot before setting up shop.
