I have an open brain in my 8 gal biocube. I've had it for 2 years in the same spot and have never seen this. Does anyone know what is happening?

that looks like a flow issue to me.

you do anything recently that would adjust flow? (add LR, move PH, etc.).

Over the last 2 years yes, in the last 6 months, no. :( I'll move the brain to see ifit improves. Does anyone know how they reproduce? That was my first thought.

they just drop off little babies kinda from the bottom, you can also frag them but never seen it done, just heard..

and no idea what could be wrong..my open brain gets blasted by a 900 modded maxi jet and loves it, whenever i move it from that spot it stays closed up and tight and when i move it back it all open and super puffy and loving it..i would be checking params, temp, other fish or shrimp maybe picking, its wierd since nothings changed in 6 months..

Wow I have never seen that happen before - did this happen over time? Or over night?
Are there other corals close by? Is there a fish or invert picking at it? I never think it would be good that the tissue is receding like that.
Parms would help maybe cal and mag?
    Please keep us updated.

Yea it could be - I know frogspawns can sting other corals and can be aggressive. But brain coral are usually aggressive too. You might have found who was winning.
But to be safe check parms too.

Hope you solved the problem - Brain corals are my fav.

Well, he looks worse. Everything else looks fine, I just don't know why. He looks like a twisted figure 8.

i would move it to the lowest flow spot possible, and maybe into a little cave from some of the lights, maybe, idk either, just an idea..
