Haven't been on here in awhile, but I'm having a problem with my zoa's. I have a big rock I would guess 100+ polyps and some of them are not opening. I have two groupings of them that aren't opening up. The rest look fine. I remember reading about zoo eating somethings but I couldnt find any of those posts.
All my params are in check and the rest of my corals are doing just fine- growing like crazy.
    Please help.

You might have one of those Zoa eating worms( for the life of me, cant remember the name of it). Do you have a refugium or a QT, where you can seclude it? Luna

Zoa's often close up for no apparent reason. If they stay closed for like 2 weeks, then you can start to worry. If the polyps are not disappearing, I wouldnt worry about it until close to the 2 week point.

Its only been about a little less than a week. It looks like they are in the process of opening just never get fully open. I don't have a qt, but I think I read some post on here about possibly doing a fresh water dip. I think.

25 Reasons why your polyps won't expand.

    19. Temperamental, yes, they are, there may be nothing at all wrong, that simply don’t want to expand for that day.

    25. And the final reason may not be any of the reasons above. Why? Periodically, polyps will retract from days to 10 to 14 days, during which they will clean themselves externally. Then without any advanced notice, they will unfold like a flower or a summer’s morning.

When you have zoo eating nudis if you look closely at some of the polyps and some of the skirts look a little munched off then you have them. Or do an iodine dip, that will kill most pests at least for awhile and helps a little with zoo pox.
