i have a 30 gallon reef and unfortunately i only have about 3 1/2 inches between my tank which isnt efficient enough for most hang-on protein skimmers. so i was wondering what protein skimmers are out there that have a very small width roughly 3 inchs and under. i was thinking about the red sea prizm skimmer or the aquaC remora but i would like your reviews on these skimmers. but if you guys have any other suggestions please inform me!

    I would go AquaC Remora

and I would empty most of the water from my tank, so I could move it forward to make sure the Aqua C would fit

you could hang it from the side also , if it would fit with your light unit

I picked up a Aqualife mini skimmer for my 30 gallon tank today. It was highly recommended by the owner of the LFS. I got it used for $50. The guy who owned it got a bigger tank, so he no longer needed it, but he loved it. I searched online and found some great reviews.

I am not sure but the Bak Paks are pretty narrow, I have a Bak Pak 2 (twin skimmer) on my 29 gallon and when installed it hangs exactly 5 3/4 inches off the back of the tank. (I also use this to mount my viper 150HQI) They make several others that may be smaller- this is a CPR brand- CPR.com I believe. They work very well.

I don't do much research on skimmers, but I've had experience with two. There's the biocube skimmer. It doesn't have the best performance, but it's pretty small and compact. It keeps everything alive at least. Or there's the Tunze 9002, which is larger, but amazing performance in nano reefs. It's very quiet, and none of the micro bubbles escape. I currently have one in my sump.
