    Hello 3reef,

Need some help. This year i decided to upgrade my son from WII and DS to PS3 or XBOX.

He is 10. plays wii kid games. Im looking for your opinion on both consols taking into account his age.

PS3 has a blueray player and 320 gig memory.

XBOX Dosent have blueray but looks like it has alot of Games like Wii.

    Thanks for your opinions.

Another thing is if he plays online, do you want to pay for him to do it? or do you want it free, thats the reason i went with PS3, i love mine, its reliable, and ive found not many people talking trash when playing online compared to xbox.

I own them both and I cant stand my PS3. Ive been an xbox fanboy since it came out so Im a little biased. ::) I dont like the way the PS3 controllers feel in my hands. They are very expensive to get more last time I checked. (the system probably only comes with one controller. Ive heard PSN can be spotty at best as well. And as far as game releases go Id have to choose 360 as well. With exclusive games like Gears of War and Halo its kind of a no brainer for me. But considering it's for your 10 year old Im not sure if you want him playing those games. Haha.

Im also a 360 person, I will say though that the blu ray player on the ps3 is a selling point for me. But online game play is much better for 360 (yes there may be more trash talking) but the ability to get into a game and the actual network in my opinion is much better than PSN.

The PS3 is a more powerful system, has free on line game play (on line player chat can easily be muted),on line game play is no more spotty then X-box live (I have never had an issue getting into games, friends who have x-box live say their is no real difference, has a blu-ray player (which is rated one of the best because Sony put their best blu-ray eye in the PS3), X-box has had the famous red eye of of death in millions of their systems(meaning the system died), most systems all have the same games, except for a few titles, one great title PS3 has for kids that Xbox doesn't is Little Planet Big World. I am not a fan boy of either system as others have stated so this is an un-biased opinion.

If you are looking to get the most reliable, cheapest cost of ownership, and the most features the PS3 is the best way to go.

I am not only a FULL time gamer, I own both systems (having once owned a Wii as well) and I can tell you that, outside of the kinect, the Xbox doesn't offer a 10 year old ANYTHING that the PS3 cannot. What it CAN offer is a 60 dollar a year membership to play online and an array of colorful invectives from its infantile members that can make a biker blush. (Nothing like teen angst to dream up the most disgusting insults possible) Add to that the 360's miserable track record on the RROD/Fail issue and a PS3 is pretty much a no-brainer. Plus the Move motion controllers are similar to the Wii but infinately better.

I own all three and if you looking for kids games stay with the Wii lol cause once you grab a PS3 or xbox you’re kind of stepping out of the kid’s games. No as for the controllers and everything else being expensive they all cost about the same across the board but PS3 come with rechargeable batteries :) and a free upgradable BLU-ray player because that is what all of their games are burnt on. Because all the games are put on blu-rays you get true high def and DTS for audio on most your major games. The Xbox is still using DVD format for all of the games so it has to up convert everything. This might not affect you because you are looking at a system for someone that is 10. Yes you do have to pay for online service through xbox which makes people think that you are getting a better service on some games you do but not all games have dedicated servers .
