Yesterday I "caught" my coral banded shrimp with a grab on my valentini puffer. There appears to be no damage to the puffer but if this is a sign of things to come the shrimp has to go.

I was told by my good source at the LFS that there should be no problem with these two living together. But given what I saw these two were NOT doing the tango.

Advice needed please as I am ready to return the shrimp today if need be.

    Thanks.

What works for one person may not work for another, as all animals have their own personality.
From what I know of puffers, I am surprised that it hasn't made a meal of the shrimp yet ;)

I agree with Diver, the puffer would have ate him! But the coral banded is afraid of nothing. He will probably stand up to a shark in the wild, he is a 100% bad ass. LOL, a headlock? That was quite a site, eh?

I too, have been keeping an eye on my CBS but he hasn't caused real ruckus. I like him as he scavenges my tank for small animals at night including bristles, keeping my tank clean.

Well......I brought the CBS back to the LFS this morning. I'm sure someone will give him a good home. There was simply too much tension in the tank.

The puffer is out and about minding his own business but I haven't seen him eating as much as I would like him to. I presently feed macroalgae and mysis shrimp. He couldn't be bothered with the algae (which I clip on the glass during feeding time) and I have seen him go for the mysis which he eats a bit then spits it out.

Is there a alternate source of food which I can introduce him to?

Yea....I freaked out when I saw the CBS giving him a bear-hug on one occassion and on another occassion the CBS had both claws extended and was doing a "vize-grip" commercial with puffy in the left claw.

Feed it formula 2 frozen which is is high in algae. My false eyed puffer is very similar to the valentini (both are sharp nosed tobys) and it loves the formula 2.
