What are the conditions that one can successfuly keep pulsating xenias? I have a 99 gal bow front with a 250 watt MH and T5's. Where in the water column would you think they would be successful in. I have had them once before and disapeared after 2 months.

Your tank should be fine for them. They can be hit and miss. Some tanks they love and grow like a weed, while other tanks they just melt away.

I have a 80g and I run 4-65w PC and 2-54w HO t-5s and i keep them about 6-8 inches from the top of the waterline and they spread like weeds, i would think with the MH you could keep them down toward the bottom of the tank and they should do fine, but like pgoodsell said some do great and others melt away.

It's hit or miss. No one really knows what conditions make them thrive & what conditions make them melt away. Some people have tanks plumbed together with all the same measurable conditions and they thrive in one and disappear in the other. All you can do is try it out & see!

Yeah they are a hit or miss. When i had my 75 gallon setup they would die, but now in my 155 they grow like weeds.
