I'm totally in love with this coral but I hear they can take over like weeds. Do you guys recomend them? Thanks.

They are a truly unique and fascinating coral, but you heard right. They grow about as fast as any coral out there. Your best bet is usually to keep the isolated on a rock island.

Perfect! I incorporated a zoa island into my aquascape, it would look sweet there with the zoas. Thanks!

Wait a minute though, it would probably take over that rock and kill the zoas. I'll have to make another small island.

I have one, everything it touches it tries to grow onto. I would recommend thinking about it for a while, it can become a problem. I keep mine on a small chunk of rock at the front of the tank, I think as long as you tend to it regularly (weekly) it would be fine. I left mine for 3 weeks once and it attached to the glass! so its definitely beautiful, but risky! there are other corals like it, but I'm not sure if they share the same weed like qualities, daisy star polyps, waving hand, are some but I feel like they would do the same thing

yeah, i fragged mine on a upside down oyster shell so i could trim it as it grew and keep it off neighboring areas!

I think the attributes of the coral far outweigh any potential risk- but that is my opinion. I mean, these things are not like aptaisia popping up everywhere uncontrollably. They have such cool movement and graceful features that I would certainly suggest adding them. I have them in every one of my tanks and have never thought of them as being a nuisance, just part of the regular maintenance.

So how does weekly trimming go? What do you have to do?
