Went to LFS tonight and saw fish we liked.
Girl said it was a purple basslet, but not 100% sure she was right.
It was all purple, and it did not have a yellow tail like the royal gramma basslet.
She said they usually sell for $22-$23, but that one in the display tank was not for sale :(.
Not sure if it was actually a basslet or pseudochromis.
What are the big differences (other than scientific classification)?
From what I could find, basslets cost a little more than pseudochromis, otherwise, similar diet, and basslets might be less agressive.
Thinking of getting the next healthy one that they get in to add to my 55 gallon. So far the 55 has a leopard wrasse, blue tang, yellow tang, 2 clowns, 2 yellow tail damsels, shrimp, snails, emerald crab, hermit crabs... so I think it would get along fine. $22 might be too much, but cheaper than paying the overnight shipping costs online.

Dottybacks, Psuedochromis, and Basslets are all from the same genera.

Your shrimp may or may not be safe with this addition....it all depends on the individual fish.

    Thanks Curt.
I think the skunk cleaner shrimp can hold his own.
Not sure about the smaller peppermint shrimp though. It's only 1-1/4", maybe a little bigger.

I had a Bicolor Pseudochromis that I hated as he was very territorial to anyone else in the tank. I would not recommend one.

Thanks Scott. The one I saw/liked was all purple.
I'm not sure if the bicolor or only purple makes any big difference in how territorial the individual fish may be. I'm going to set up the 10 gallon qt tank tonight or tomorrow.
I'm working on cleaning out and organizing the garage right now tonight ... tank is next.
Then I gotta convince the owner tomorrow that he should sell me that fish. ;D
From researching some more, I think the one they have is a magenta pseudochromis.

Wish I could help on a "technical" level but, I think the differences will be fairly minimal to your tank.
    Comparatively speaking.......;D

So Casey, do you give it a yes or a no?
I think that's gonna be the limit after this one, since the tank will be stocked to it's limit until I upgrade.
Hey, when the garage is organized and clean, I'll have room to start building a stand...
