Been fighting this stuff for awhile now. Seems like nothing in my tank likes it. Dont seem to affect corals. This stuff is tuff cant scrape it off cant even get it off with a toothbrush. I have tryed to manually pull it off and cant even really get any of it. Need an id so I can learn more about it and get a battle plan ;D Best pic I could get. Thanks)

Checked that thread out already) Could not find anything that looks like it I been looking forever=) I started to think it was cotton candy but it does not have any branches to it and does not grow in balls like in all the pics I have seen just little strings hairs sticking out. What you see is the tallest and biggest it gets but it spread almost everywhere and I dont really know how it did=p Been agressive on phosphate and nutrient control also been skimming really wet for months. Have no other algae except this stuff. Only confined to dt does not grow in my fuge or sump area for some reason. Tryed lights out for a week to no avail. Mabye urchin or tang would eat this stuff? My lmb picks at it but dont really eat it. My turbos just go right over it. Just want this stuff to go away lol. Thanks for the reply

have you got hermits? or a blenny? im pretty sure i got some of those dark-reddish algae on one of the rocks i just got recently and since i got those two i mentioned ive been seeing bits and pieces of it scattered on the substrate. definitely they dont like eating them but they love picking on them. im guessing its more likely the hermit did it he;s the only one isee climbing on rocks. hope that helps... goodluck!

John thanks for the answer) I seen some pics that it does look like red turf algae, and others that dont but I imagine there is all kinds of different umm species you can say.. Dont know what you mean by scale but I took the pic zoomed in. Thats what it looks like exactly not enlarged or anything etc. Kyan I do have a blenny and a bunch of snails turbos, astrea, cerith, nerite they seem not to eat the stuff at all the blenny will pick at it but really does not like it. Thanks for the help guys)
