Just bought a purple tang for my reef today. My wife has always liked it so, I told her I bought it for her. I really bought it to help with my GHA I'm starting to accumulate. Seconds into the tank he was picking my LR and letting everyone know he was there. He is a perfect looking fish.

Nice post a pic, purple tangs are awesome looking fish, but they do tend to bully other fish, so watch out for that

He's the only mean fish in my tank now. I'm sure the purple pseudo and six line won't take too much !@#$. He's fairly small anyways. I do have experience with tangs though, and it was a consideration. I haven't posted any pics before on 3reef yet so, not quite sure how.

Congrats on the Purple Tang, they are awesome...At this point we cant put one in the display tang as we already have a Kole and Yellow Bellied Hippo..The Kole is such a bully in that tank, he wouldnt stand for another tang...Maybe in the 200, when we get it...LOL8)

Just got home from xmas vac. my tang has more ick than I've ever seen. He is now in quarantine and within 12 hours has cleared up tremendously. Not the kind of fish you want to lose in a week.

Best of luck combatting the ick, local fish store got a purple tang in with ick and they still have it 2 months now later and its almost completely healed and looking good after being completely covered. By the way --- I hate ick.

I have a Purple tang as well.....Beautiful fish, but boy is he mean. He picked on my skunk cleaner shrimps antennae for so long the poor shrimp stayed in hiding. I had to give it to a friend to keep it from dying. As far as the ich they are prone as all tangs are.....I dose garlic extract from Kent into my foods (frozen mysis and cyclopeez and formula 2) as well as Zoe to fight this. My tang at first had the ich when introduced (2 days into his stay) then it got better....between the garlic and cleaner shrimp (which ironically he picked on until almost the demiseof hte shrimp) he was clear within a couple of days.....good luck, beautiful fish!
