My new anemone opens up more at night than during the day so i've started feeding him at night with the moon lights on...why is he doing this? The picture is taken during the night with the moon lights...i just have a polarizing filter so no flash shows shining on the glass.

Maybe it's its response to the feeding. What kind of lights are you running on the tank?

My candy canes were like that also, only at night were the feeding tentacles out waiting for food. But they are two totally different things.

How much experience do you have in the hobby? and how long have you had the anemone? Chances are, if it is new, it came from somewhere on a different time zone, just needs to get acclimated to your tanks lighting schedule and it should be fine... that is assuming it is relatively new.

5 years in the hobby, i've only had this anemone a couple of weeks, i'm hoping it will get healthy and get rid of that bleached look..oh T5's...how long do you think it will take for it to start looking normal during the day and other than being bleached do you think it looks healthy...its my first anemone

Honestly, I have absolutely no experience with anemone's so I really am no help. I had a leather that was definitely on a different time zone than my tank and it took him about a week to stat opening up in the daytime. How long has the tank been running?

How many watts? Sebae's require much stronger lighting than other anemone's. Just because you have T5's doesn't mean you have enough lighting.
Bleaching is the basic sign of healthy or not, so no, it does not look healthy at all. And, they can be very difficult to bring back once they start to go. And boy do they go. I had a sebae wipe out my entire tank

How do you like that light set-up..?
Do they show color good..? I'm going to be mixing T5's and PC's, and was woundering..
Most things do feed at lights out.... Most can be trained to daylight, some can't..
Just be very careful with it..

    Good Luck, Larry
