Waste of money! Just keep Mg, Ca & dKH up and it will happen all by it self.

Remember, Calcium, Magnesium, and Alkalinity are all related. You gotta keep them all in line, not just focus on one. All you gotta do is keep your params in check and it will grow like a weed depending on your lighting. The lower the lighting the faster it will grow, but that's a potential trade off. Do you want faster coraline growth, or more/better corals.

Just keep everything in check and "go slow, let it grow." That's probably the best advice for a reef aquarium with anything. Most solutions to a problem involving a reef tank are fixed by either doing an immediate water change, or letting nature take its course.

We haven't dosed purple up or any other coraline additive and we've got coraline spreading onto our base rock and starting to even grow on our Mag Float and our setup is just 3.25 months old. Let your tank do what it wants. I wouldn't bother with purple up stuff, it's a waste of money in my opinion. We also have moderate lighting, not intense for acros and other LPS corals. But all we like are zoas and softies anyways :)

Marketing... Purple up = purple coraline will grow faster in my tank right? Wrong. It won't grow any faster if you parameters are correct as said above. For the size bottle actual beneficial elements in it ... it's extremely expensive.

+1 on everything said. It's all correct. Plus, you don't necessarily want super coraline growth. A lot of people have to fight coraline and it can become a real problem.

When I was first setting up my tank, I couldn't wait for coraline to start growing. Now, it has become a nuisance. I need to keep on cleaning my glass. It does look nice on my rock, but it's annoying to clean off the glass, pumps, and overflow. Once you start growing it, you'll come to understand.
