Hey guys, i started my mantis tank on 5/10 and while waiting on the cycle, have started asking questions about the PVC in my setup.

    First off about my tank:
10 gallon glass tank reinforced with a sheet of acrylic siliconed to the bottom.
Tetra Advanced EX20 HOB Power filter with something called "scrubber floss"(any explination for that one would be awesome?!? is it like a bio media?) moves 110 gph.
    Visi-Therm Stealth Shatterproof Pro-heater 25W
Using 1 24" flourescent that came stock with my 55.
    3" inches torpedo beach sand
    8lbs Branching Polynesian Live rock

I really liked the way some of you more experienced mantis owners set up a burrow of PVC. My question is, will the burrow be a nesting ground for nitrates? Since my filter moves a lot of water and adds great flow to the tank will that be enough to keep water flowing through that pvc to clean out any debris? Or are mantis' good at keeping the burrow clean?

    Thanks in advance!

Oh and the peppermint shrimp is a little welcome home present, if he makes it through the cycle...

I believe they keep their own burrows cleaned out sufficiently. Good luck with the mantis tank!! I love those guys :)

Mantis redecorate as often of a pregnant woman that's nesting. Don't worry about it getting dirty. If it's dirty, they want it dirty right then.......but then they'll change their mind and clean it out.
