Just recieved and installed my swing check valve in my return line back to DT, it doesn't restrict flow and when power goes out or I shut pump off the water drains down below overflow but no more back from return.I hated all the bubbles from the loc-line that would fill the tank when the pump was back on and this seems to have solved the problem. Think I paid 12 bucks for it and so far worth it :).

I see what your saying about the bubbles. I have always been afraid of the fish getting the bubbles stuck in gills or so. It's a cheap fix that takes care of an annoying situation.

I've heard that there are reliability issues with these... Although I have no 1st hand experience. Apparently, over time they become mucked up to the point where they malfunction - so regular cleaning is a necessity.

Your application seems to be more cosmetic though - preventing bubbles - as opposed to preventing floods, so your're probably okay.

They do get gunked up. The one on my 150 is looking a bit under the weather now, so it's time for my annual thorough cleaning this weekend. Just keep an eye on it and keep it clean. :)

I have 2 just for the cleaning part, swap them out while I clean the other. No big deal if it malfunctions, always allow for mishaps, there is plenty of room in sump/fuge for the water if needed. Thanks for the advice guys, thats the main reason I posted the thread, to get info (good, bad points) about them. I've learned if it has moving parts sooner or later wear and tear takes over.
