I plan to get a catalina goby for my 46, but i was just doing more research on them and i found one site saying that they are a coldwater fish and do not do well in a warmer tank that's above 70. So since they need a cooler setting should i nix the catalina goby on my to get list?

I have heard that they don't live as long in warmer water and that they get diseases easier.

Unless you want to buy a chiller and have all cold water livestock, then yes, you should cross it off.

ok, i'm glad i've been doing research on the fish that i plan to get, i was really hoping to get the catalina goby since it was a native california fish, but oh well, i must look for another goby then

K+ for doing research. So many people just buy whatever catches their eye and that usually ends badly. Anything that is native to California will required a chiller, but there are a lot of great tropical fish to choose from.;D

thanks :D i was liking the yellow watchman goby, but they seem almost to popular but it's the almost the only bright colored out there, i don't want one that has that "clear" look to it as it would blend in with the sand to much

K+ for doing research. My one great moment of weakness with this hobby was with a catalina goby. I bought one assuming it was like the rest of the small gobies I had and researched when I got home. It lived a couple weeks in my reef and disappeared.
