i'm looking into the Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse which is very beautiful. MY only question is, that places are saying that their temp needs to be 72-78F, and isin't that considered colodwater? i thought all wrasses are tropical? And this fish comes from Maldives Islands. So i'm confused now?

so i just looked at other temps for other wrasses, and they all say the same, so i guess that is considered tropical, so i guess i should be fine

Sorry for not seeing this before you answered it yourself, but yeah, the red velvet is totally fine in a reef tank.
I try to specialize in wrasses.

Usually these wrasses are usually around 70+ bucks. How much is the one you are looking at?

according to one lfs' website they have them going for $59.99, when i'm ready to get the fish i'll price both the close lfs and the one that's selling them for $59.99. With the close one you have to special order all fish, so i don't know how much it would be to do that

Just make sure you have a nice tight fitting lid. I had a gorgeous Carpenters Flasher Wrasse.

Key word there is HAD ... jumped to a crispy fate.

i have an egg crate lid i think it should be ok. That has to really suck finding dead fish on the floor. But if my fish do decide to jump and some how push the lid up, they would more than likely hit the light and fry, so i really hope that's not going to happen :) Sorry to hear about your fish
