Quick Cycling Question!

    No you won't be shunned. We're just trying to help. It's not like you have a tang in a 29g... right... ?? ... ?? ... ;) Anyways, I would get your LFS to test it to ensure your test kit is working properly. Other than that, keep the windex away from the tank if you have an open top. Sit back, relax. Many of our member suggest keeping the lights off and the tank cycling for up to 4 months so that you miss the algae break in period.

    Sounds like a great chemistry experiment! If you test when the cycle is done and everything is great, sounds like your "natural" sea water worked. Sometimes luck is all we need...

    I use ocean water also, you can't get any better than that, and yea keep the lights off untill done cycle. Get some sand in there also while your diving. My cycle took about 2 months.

    im goin on my 2nd moth 7 weeks after .... i just got a big spike in amonia and nitrites nitrates. .5 amonia .25 nitrate .5 nitrite .... i did add 10 lbs of live rock would that cause a new cycle?

    yea, anytime you add some new your tank will go thur a small cycle, just wait it out till your tests get down to zero

    kinda makes a lil sense to me i shoulda used base rock instead eh???

    although i have enough rock now i can use it and reset up a 55 gallon and gona make my 75 tall a fish only tank......
