quick plumbing question

so im plumbing in a new diy refugium and am using pvc pipe. Is pvc glue and the purple primer/cleaner what I should use to glue it al together. I've always used flexable vinyl hose in the past. please advise and thanks in advance!

You should always use primer first when bonding PVC. It helps the molecular bond of the plastics.

 

i made the mistake of NOT using the primer on my old 75rr BIG mistake as it didnt hold up very long!

 

Pvc....

Theres a different glue for the hose ("flex") and one for the actual hard pipe. The same cleaner/primer can be used on both. You can get it in different colors and some with no color which looks good after but you can't tell if you've cleaned/primered it before glueing.
You can also get the glues in different "fastness". Some to set quick, mod., etc.

 

yeah the "purple stuff" stinks. and can leave you feeling like you have drank a couple beers
