Would it be safe to use rain water from the rain gutter?
My roof is made of wood, with tar paper, and covered with paper shingles.
The roof is old, and it rains alot here in Miami.
How could i find out if the water is safe?
I tested it, and i found 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, 0 ammonia, and 7.8 ph,
I know i would have to lower the ph before mixing it, but what else?
    Thanks

i would say maybe if you lived in the middle of no where and there was no pollution, and your roof and gutters were sterile. but maimi doesn't fit the bill

Personaly if I wouldent drink it I wont use it. Also just because there is 0 nitrates, 0 nitrites, 0 ammonia dont meen there is not other trace elements that may harm your tank.

Thats a bumer, sad that rain water is not safe, alot of that around here specially today.
I guess i would have to filter it, uv, carbon, etc etc, not worth the headache, i will just keep buying Ro water from publix, its just funny to see peoples faces when they see me walking in there with 6 5gal buckets from home depot.

I was reading about it, but from what i can get, i dont think its acid, like acid acid, its more like low PH. Even do turkey point nuclear plan is only a few miles from my house, that must be why my dog has a 3'd leg coming from his ear...

There's way to much crap in the air to use rainwater, if you won't drink it don't expect your pets to either. I too live near a nuclear plant, Hanford, and I wouldn't even eat the fish from the local rivers. We have the "proud" distinction of the most polluted nuclear site in the nation. I could make you a killer deal on some new species of frogs and mice though!

It is safe for storing it and using it to water plants though!!
