My specific gravity is at 1.022-023 right now. Do you think I should raise it to .025? I saw threads where people say 1.025 is where things really come to life? All I have is 3 clowns currently but I would just like to see some good algae start growing on my rock...

No need if you're not keeping coral. If you are keeping coral, absolutely. Natural sea water is 1.026 (35ppt).

There's no real "good" algae to have growing on your rock, unless you put macroalgae in your tank.

If you are interested in the Coraline algae, concentrate more on the Magnesium and Calcium relationship. Certain lighting grows Coraline better than others, research lighting.

I agree with what is stated above...

    1) Here are my Specific Gravity Notes in case they help you.

    2) Your comment on a rock "looking healthy". If you mean coraline algae, then do as stated above. If you mean anything else growing on your rocks, I'd be careful. Most folks try to avoid anything growing on their rocks other than coraline and corals.
