What are you dosing with? Magnesium Sulfate, Magnesium Chloride, or a combo?

a water change may help a little
but it depends on the mag level in the water being added, and the amount of water being changed

if you changed 10% with a mag level of 1450 for example
    you would then have 9 parts at 1150 plus 1 part at 1450 =11800 divide by 10 = 1180

so as you can see a water change of 10% is not helping much

more efficient IMO to raise the mag independently by no more than 100pm per day until you get to the 1400 - 1450 level

but doing water changes of 10% per week or 10% every other week is a good idea outside of using it to raise mag levels anyway

mag utilisation is not that great in many peoples experience so once you have acheived your target, depending on species being kept, 10% water changes may be enough to maintain it

Thanks too both of you right now the only thing I am dosing with is Kent cb part for cal but I think I am going to hold off on today's dose and try and find some Kent tech M and dose that tomorrow. My mag test should be here monday or Tuesday so I test my self. Things are OK not critical and would like to keep it that way. What do you guts use to raise or maintain Mag.

I used Mag Sulfate - in the form of Seachems reef advantage Magnesium to raise and maintain mine for a while -its basically Epsom salts

I still use it, but periodically use the Brightwell, Mag Sulfate and Chloride combo "Magnession"

What is your salinity at for the readings you took in the first post? Did I miss them?

I've been using TechM because it was on sale, and I used it to get rid of bryopsis. I tried BRS mag, and epsom salts, but only the TechM worked, so I'm sticking with that.
