Random Looking Plant

    I just noticed these things tonight i have a bunch in my tank now about 8-10 mostly on the seaweed and now some on a rock it looks like its smoking or releasing something.

    Caulerpa Prolifera. It can be invasive and take over the entire tank. Manual removal is a pain because of the fine "roots" on the holdfast. If you try to pull it out you'll need the aid of a dental pick to get all the fine stuff or new plants will grow from it.
    Tangs will wipe it out quick.

    Nevermind my last post..you're wanting to know what is growing on the caulerpa. No idea there. But if your worried about it pull the leaves it's adhered to and pitch it. When in doubt, throw it out.

    Yes normally I would do that but I added extra types of macroalae to the tank because I love how it looks. I'm interested in letting them grow to see what they become. I was curious if anyone else had these before an what results were.
