So my ocellaris clown pair have recently started to hang out around the small heliofungia in the tank and it seems they have decided that it should be their new home. But I've heard many cases where corals will get irritated by clowns hosting them and that they may die. I'm worried this will happen to the heliofungia because it is really small and only a bit larger than both the clowns in there together..... and they rough it up quite a bit. There is also a bta in the tank but they don't seem to notice it. So my question is, can you get clownfish to re-host or leave corals they are in, and if so, how? Any ideas are appreciated :)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Start with moving the coral, try changing up the scape a little.

I would be concerned if a clown was residing in a Fungia.

My old clowns hung out in my hairy mushroom. Made me very nervous as it was easily big enough to eat them. Luckily nothing happened. +1 to what Corailline said try moving the coral, but in the end they go where they like and it can be hard to persuade them to leave.

Agree with both replies.Just so you are clear clowns don't host they are hosted.;)

This is why I always advise people to be carefull adding clowns to a reef tank.IMO they are not always reef safe and the long term effects of the clowns affection can have serious consequences to the health of the host.:(

Does that mean that clowns don't choose to host? The coral/anemone chooses it to host? Never really understood he concept.

The clowns choose what coral/nem they want to host them. The coral/nem is still the host and as vinny said sometimes the coral isnt to happy about being a host.

LMAO....Thats actually a good way to explain it. Just picture the Coral is hosting a party and a Clownfish crashes the party and won't leave.:(
There is no telling why a Clown chooses its host.

It's like that wreckless friend everybody has who invite's themselves to the party and decides to stay til they've eaten/drank you out of house and home, not to mention pee'd on your rug.
