You need to be a little more specific.... Carbon, PO4, Calcium, Kalk......... ???

You can run a mixed reef with out reactors. If you can afford a reactor(s) it/they will help. I run a carbon, phosphate and sulfur reactors on my system.

Carbon will help keep toxins out of the water and improve the overall quality of the water.
Phosphate reactors remove phosphates from the water and will help in battling algae.
    Sulfur Denitrator removes nitrates.

I've read some people divide their reactor with a sponge and run carbon and GFO (for phosphate removal) in the same reactor. I have no personal experience with that. It could be a money saver.

I know this is lame, but ive never really looked into Kalk too much. I mean i get the basic idea, but what and how does it work and what are its benefits?
