red algae?

    ive got red algae everywhere! i tried feeding less. ive tried cutting down on lights. and i tried some stuff that cost me 20.00 at LFS. still there.. help!!!!!!

    Sounds like cyano bacteria to me. Increase your flow and it should go away depending on where u are getting your water.

    what they said.... increase flow and check your phosphates. Phosphates feed cyano. I got rid of mine with a phosphate reactor.

    I've tried a refugium with macro algae, increased flow, feeding less, blackouts, a GFO reactor, and an algae turf scrubber. Phosphates and nitrates were always undetectable. Only way I got rid of my cyano was treating it with Maracyn fish anti-biotic. One week of treatment and havnt seen it in 4 months. Wish I would have done it a year ago.

    I have purchased some large Turbo snails and they are helping me with my wiry red hair algae.
