Hey there, I'm in the process of cycling a new 400litre (100usgallon) tank, I already have a 180 litre tank with live rock and fish only. The plan is to move everything over to the new setup. On the existing tank I have a little red/black algae on the live rock. Is it a bad idea to add this live rock in this condition to the new tank? Thanks for any input :)

personally I would take those rocks with algae on them out, and sit them in a loosely covered bucket with a powerhead(for gas exchange) until the algae dies in a week or so. then put them in the tank

+1 on above, although IME the timing can vary

a dark coloured tub and a dark lid will speed up the process , as would throwing an old blanket over a lighter coloured tub - the idea being to prevent any light getting to the rock

I had some dark green turf algae almost black but it faded to green over a period of time in the buckets - I checked it on a daily basis and it took about 18 days for the rock to be clean enough for me to add to tank

Even with the dark treatment you probably will probably encounter the beast again. When I do water changes I use the siphon tube to suck it off whatever it attaches to.
