Nudi's??? you really need a magnifying glass or a good Macro lens to see the Red bugs.

well i know i definetly saw some red dots on my neon green acro but the stag still shows no sign at all of being bothered i do see some more spots of white on the unknown acro i might try to get a picture if i can but the polyp extensions actually gotten better which is whats weird
ive never seen any nudibranchs in this tank or on the frags when they came in i check my tank out everynight and i never spot anything weird

Sounds like acro eating flat worms. They leave little patches of eaten flesh. They are alost clear so they are very hard to see.I would remove coral and inspect very closely. Why your are at it look for their eggs also.Good luck and I hope that is not it.

So could I just starve the tank of smooth acropora if its flatworms? Everything else looks perfectly fine :/ would they just die off eventually?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Acropora eating FW will devour the acropora until the corals are dead unless there is predator to keep their numbers in check. RB are cake walk compared to AEFW. You can dip your corals repeatedly to eliminate the FW and their eggs, it's a lot of work and very frustrating. AEFW do not differentiate between smooth skin acropora and non smooth, they are considered to be a very formidable pest, right next to Montipora eating nudibranch.

    Good luck

Is it feasable to believe the patchs could be from red bugs?

The bugs I did see were more like copepods and not a flatworm clear with a red stripe if that helps I'm going to check the tank in a few hours hopefully its just red bugs..

So I just pulled the "unknown" and it looks as if its not any worse there's no worm attached anywhere and the stag continues to be uneffected polyp extension is getting better I checked those "bite" marks out on the unknown acro and they are infact skin deep. I don't see anything red dot wise around them or worm wise which is weird I tried taking a pic but no luck on showing the actual mark it does look like somthing was taking small bits but it looks like perfect circles almost like a fish... I doubt I'd miss a mouth with this big of a mouth so its hard for me to think a worm would eat properly I havnt found to much on acro flatworms to determine wether I should even worry at this point I guess the underlying question is how long before I can really know wether I have them or not?
