So i got a red planet a few months ago, and being new to SPS i had it placed high in my tank, and imagine this, it lost color to a red/tan color. Well, I have it on my acro frag rack, and it is low in my 55G Dt 4x54W t5 sundial with ATI blue+, KZ Fiji Purple, ATI Auqablue special, and a stock 10k (instead of the 6500k GE i was gonna put in but didnt want to lose that much blue spectrem) So there isnt a TON of PAR in there.

It has started to sorta bleach some more again, what the heck am I to do, put an acro in shade? This is the only coral in my tank to be lightening up like this. My alk 3.0 Meq/L Ca 420 PH 8.1-8.3 Mg 1350 SG 1.026 NO3/PO4 not registering on my tests but obviously present since i got a bit of GHA. Now i feed only a couple times a month, but like i said, the other dozen acros have no paling of color to indicate low nutrients as a cause.

I have the same problem with mine, except it didn't go tan just lighter and lesser red. It is coming back now that I have less dissolved organic compounds in the tank and it is getting a little less light. A little shade might help. Params look good otherwise.

This is actually a lower light coral and IME prone to bleaching if not properly light acclimated. Put it midway in the tank and give it some time. Also, the more blue light, the greener the base will become.

Guitar: I toally agree. Right now, and for the past couple months the acros have been 2/3rds of the way down. There isnt anywhere lower to move the rack or i start smashing LPS lol. maybe ill place him on the sand?

hey MSA: thanks for your imput. I have medium to more flow on that rack. Its actually not getting hit too much, and PE is great.

when you say bleaching, are you saying that is just loosing color. It is not starting to RTN or anything is it?

Are you running carbon and GFO?

Don't know if it would help your coloring but your alk seems low to me at 3 meqL - my acros seems happier when it is close to 4 or higher.

@Matt yeah it most definintly could be an alk issue, mine was pretty low as I got alot of SPS in there and got lazy on keeping up on dosing/testing

@MSA Having no RTN/STN in the tank. I did dose too much alk with my first two corals and got my hydnophora stn in to about 30 percent, but its fully recovered and my blue voodoo never lost tissue. That was in march or april? I'm running GFO but not carbon at the moment. I do have to change medium i think and then I will run carbon for a week or two. Im putting it off because I want to change my rockwork and I think that will mess will my water quality and im really busy this week. Also im glad you became a sponser I still gotta order a marshall island purple/green from you!!!!!
