I have a red slime algae problem in my 100g bow front tank. It's pretty much been in the tank the whole time it has been up and running. I am looking for some suggestions to rid this algae for good. In old tanks i have used the red slime remover and done a water change 48hrs after dosed and it has worked. I did not try this yet figured someone has some intelligence on the matter. In the tank is 2 Niger triggers, 1 humu picasso, 1 dog faced puffer, 1 undulated moray, 1 dwarf lion, and two crabs along with multiple snails. I have a reef octopus protein skimmer along with a power head and two serious pumps..thanks for any help.

RO/DI water; trust me, it helped me and is still helping me with red and green algae right now. Also, if you have no access to RO water or an RO unit, then all I can say is water changes and cut down on light unless you have corals. Good luck!

    OPfishin,

What are your tests showing? Red slime will feed off Nitrates and Phosphates. if you see it, then these things are going to be present in your system. post those up please.

i cut light out for 2 days then it went away. seems to be better than introducing chems to the tank. pickup is right though test for those things and figure out why they are there and alleviate the issue :D
