I have used it before and it worked. It's basically an antibacterial medication for the tank, ethromycin (sp?). If you use it, follow the directions strictly, and if in doubt, underdose the medication. You will need to really be on task with good water circulation and aeration (use a very fine bubble stone) in your tank because it will use up alot of the tank's bioavailable oxygen, which can also drop your pH significantly. If your water's buffering is adaquate, you may not see a drop in pH, but after your medication cycle, you will have to readjust your buffering to get it back to where it needs to be. My dKH dropped from 14 down to 5 when I used it and had a mild pH swing from 8.4 to 8.1. Turn off your skimmer and remove any carbon during treatment as well.
You will want to find the cause of the cyano though. Mostly it is caused by not enough waterflow in the tank. Detritus will settle on the sand and rock and the slime will take hold and grow. Add a good circulation head, like a Koralia or Seio, and you will see the problem go away, assuming you have adeqaute protein skimming on your tank.

Good luck with getting it under control. Usually it pops up when lights are getting old, dead spots in the water, or excessive feedings. I'm actually seeing a bit of cyano in my tank now, but it's due to the excess nutrients in the water since my fuge was knocked out of the system. The cyano will usually burn itself off after it absorbs all of the nutrients in the water after you remedy the source of the problem.
