i agree most red slime remover does work well. i think its a type of antibiotic. the important thing is do a huge water change afterwards because it will release all the nutrients trapped in the cyano. then its probably important to look at your husbandry and discover where all those nutrients came from. and prevent them from building up again. it may just be left over from cycling the LR if nothings wrong with your practices.

Today all seems fine after dosing the red slime remover yesterday, turned my skimmer back on and boy did it go mad filled the cup up with water twice even on lowest setting, good job i had a flow regulator on the pump hose.
You say it releases the nutrients, is that why i have a covering of oily film on my water surface now, or is that just because of the treatment i used?

you turned back on the skimmer already? i would've left it off for 48 hours.. and the oily film was something that i also had, it will go away after your water change, it should anyways, not something you have to worry about

I used this last week. I am laughing now, but I was SeRiOuSly irritated that there is not a skimmer warning on the packaging. Our skimmer went completely nutts and flooded the cabinet. Luckily my dad siliconed the entire bottom, and then used a waterproof paint when he sealed the base. I love the results of the red slime meds.

i would've given it more time without the skimmer, and i did a water change before i started my skimmer again, if it was me, i would turn off the skimmer and do a water change. semi flip the sand with the red slime on it and let the bottom part of the sandbed absorb some of the med as well.. don't do it enough that it triggers a cycle though

I know exactly what you mean, my skimmer cup flooded the floor also, and filled the cup twice, luckily for me i had a flow valve connected to the intake pipe , other wise i would not have been able to use the skimmer even on lowest setting, just started to turn it back up now, have not seen any cyano for 2 days so far, but i could tell my corals did not like it, finger leather coral is closed up, will oped in about four days, after its shredded, and all my polyps are not opening up properly, plus my one ricorda shroom as turned a purple colour, i did a water change last night will see how it looks this morning when lights are on...to be honest the only coral that seems uneffected is my xenia, all live stock looks ok...
