Reef Crystals

Well, I saw that Reef Crystals come with high calcium and magnesium and help maintain a good Ph; does this mean that I don't really have to supplement my tank? I'm obviously still going to tets my parameters, but does this actually have the right supplements in right amounts?

 

You still have to supplement. I use oceanic and I don't have to supplement that much. I also use Oceanic because it comes in 200g buckets unlike IO 160g and it's cheaper.

 

I use RC and have been for a few years. It is good salt IMO and has decent levels when mixed with RO/DI. I still dose mag,alk, and cal though.

I read a lot of good stuff about the new Red Sea Coral Pro salt but I'm not sure if it hit the market yet.

 

as folks are pointing out, the expensive salts still require dosing. It is cheaper to get cheap salt (IO) and dose it up to par. The cheapest way to dose your elements is the two part kit at bulkreefsupply.com

 

You will only have to dose if you have hard corals or other things in the tank that use the elements such as coralline algae even snails. If you have mainly soft corals and only a few hard corals, you could probably get away with not dosing and just doing regular water changes.
