I picked up a used reef keeper 2 today for a song ($25!!!) and have a few questions for anyone with one. After playing around with if for a few I got pretty comfortable with the settings for various channels and feel I have a good grip on how it works.

One thing I cant figure out is channel 8. Every time I go into a menu of any kind channel 8 clicks on until I get back to the main screen . . . any ideas as to why? It's not a huge deal as that's where my canopy fans are hooked up too, but i would still like to know if there is any way to fix it. Where is the best place to put the temp probe (I'm guessing at the bottom of my sump)? And where can I get a good price on the PH probe?

Does anyone use the PH probe hooked up to a doser or an aqualifter to dose something until it gets back in check? If so I would love to see / hear about how you have that setup.

    Thanks.

i currently run a reefkeeper 2 so any questions send me a pm. what setting do you have channel 8 on mean is it always on or do you have an on of set based on temp?

also the best ph probe that i have found for mine is the pinpoint ph probe and calibrating it takes some getting used to

I had channel 8 set to my fans in the canopy (set to go on at 80*) and for whatever reason when the temp sensor is not plugged in the outlet will kick on whenever you enter a menu. Guess I just needed to play with it a little more. thanks for the offer on the probe, but I'll just add one in on my next BRS order . . . wouldn't want yours to go out and you not have a spare.

I think my temp is off a bit. I have the house at 77*, no lights have been on in 36 hours and my temp is reading 82 with a brand new probe. I have the probe in the sump and it is kinda close to my skimmers sedra 5000. Would it be better off in the DT zip tied to a K4 power cord?

i have my temp probe in the sump as well and my chiller controller probe in a overflow box and they both read the same.

here is what i would do if i were you. i would get an acurate tank temp and then go into the settings and calibrate your temp probe.

Well, if you have no use for it, and it works send it on over!! 8)

For the temp probe, I put it in the main tank about 8" down, but my background is black so it blends right in. I was double checking the temp readings with an old suction cup analog.

I never really saw the appeal of these controllers compared to the retail prices, but after messing around with one for a weekend, I dont know how I lived without it.
