I bought the API saltwater master test kit and was wondering what reef test kit to buy. Is the API reef master test kit just as good and between the two will that be all I need to test for or will I need to get more. Thanks for the help in advance.

I have both the API master salt water and the reef test kit, i like them both and they seem to be doing a fine job. You will also need to get a Mg test kit, neither of those kits has one. I bought the salifert Mg test kit, supposed to be top of the line, very accurate, but you can probably go with the red sea Mg test kit.

+1 on the mg. test you will need to have it, I have the RedSea mg. test and it works very well. you might also want to get ph. and iodine, if your kit didn't include the ph. and iodine if you plan on dosing it.

You'll be fine to start with both API kits, a Mag test, and a refractometer. Don't worry about iodine now. You'll only need it eventually if you'll be dumping Purple-Up into your tank, and no need for that as you'll find out.

Trust us, if your tank's parameters are correct, you won't need it.
