Thanks to the lovely people of 3reef, i have decided to start a reef tank! I have a tank cycling right now i just need to invest in lights. my intentions for this tank was fish only but... Now, if im going to have 130 watts of coralife lighting, what can i put in this tank? there are a lot of shelves for things to lie on considering i have 37 lbs of LR in a 20 gallon long tank. I want stuff like hammer corals, not really xenia, anything that doesnt come attached to a rock i PERFER. Not need. but its a lot easier. As previously stated, my dream was to have an anemone tank but appearently that isnt possible with 130 watts...

    Thanks,
    Ryan

I would suggest T5's. Do it right the first time. If you go with PC's you will regret it down the road. PC's are currently being phased out of the hobby for anything but fish only and plants/macro's.
Also, T5's will cost you less money in the long run. Bulbs last twice as long, and they use less energy.

ok new question. The manager at a store called jurassic aquatics (a pretty nice sw store) said that there is no such thing as 30" t5 light bulbs. He said the closest to it is a 36". Is this true? if it is, im not going to even go with t5's. whats the step down from t5's? other that PC?

The isint anthing inbetween t5 and pc to my knowledge. Im running pc's myself, aslong as your not gonna add any corals that require strong lighting you will be fine

thanks for the link. I would get that but its $80 for just 48 watts, you know? Scuba steve, im going for the pc's. Im with you. As you can see, its highly discouraged, i need to do it. I plan on having 2 65 watt light fixtures. Coralife PC. 30"

    Thanks for the replies,
    Ryan
