I'm trying to get this dang thing to stop leaking around the intake / outlet. It's threaded, so of course I'm using threaded PVC to connect to the pump. 1.5" output 2" input. I'm using thread tape around the threads, and have tried various amounts of tape, and everything tightens down very well and fits nicely. No threads seem to be stripped. It's a steady drip around both, and I'm getting damn sick of taking the pump out, dumping about a gallon of water on the floor each time it gets pulled to examine / retape the threads. Any idea how I can make this thing not leak?

Do not use tape on the fittings. When doing plastic to plastic you should use Teflon pipe dope. Which I also believe the manual that comes with it say to use. Reason is the plastic fittings are just being distorted by the tape.

Eh, this thing didn't come with much of a manual. It did have a couple sheets in the box that explained maintenance and such but nothing about what to use around the fittings.

I did get it going with absolutely no leaks now and I love it. Used combination of pipe dope and tape. This thing cranks! It is very quiet, runs cool, and is running the closed loop beautifully. I will never go back to powerheads. The ability to control the flow to any corner or all at once and fine tune my flow is valuable to me. And it looks good!

Good to hear it is running. Just make sure when you use pipe dope that you don't get any on the inside of the pipe. Don't know what that would do to SW fish.

Great you got it sealed. Here is a link to the manual in case you need it in the future.
