Would it not be fine to plug the skimmer direct in the wall. Would there ever be a time you dont want it running?

I would want the pumps and the skimmer to turn off when feeding so that food doesn't get blown around or skimmed out. Also so its easier to target feed the corals.

Put those on a power strip and turn them off with a flip of a switch when you want them off, turn on when you want them on. Save a ton of $ to do a little extra work in my opinion. I'm going to use a rkl unit on my tank and I will use one module to control heater, 2 for lights, and 1 for jbj ato for redundancy. My power heads, return, and skimmer will be put on a power strip and turned off as needed.
