whats the best lighting for a fuge? Will a corallife daylight bulb work? or should it be more on a overall spectrum?

My macro algeas do fine with a daylight.  I agree with Nikki, the low flow requirement is for the macro algea.
I'll disagree a little with the statement:

A refugium is a refuge from predators.  In my fuge, I have no lights, no macroalgae or substrate of any kind.  I have a lot of flow in there, with plenty of LR and loads of rubble.  It is simply a place for pods and added biofiltration.  The flow in a refugium depends on what you have in there.
Well, I guess I disagree a little too :)

The ideal fuge for me woud have macro algae, the rock and a DSB. It would not be isolated from the tank water flow but I would design it so the flow was very low indeed. The last thing that I would want is 650 gph steaming through a refuge, but that's JMHO :)

I guess we will have to disagree, then. Just to reiterate, a refugium means an area of refuge. I don't want macroalgaes in my refugium for various reasons I don't wish to get into on this thread.

    Yes, and that's OK :)

I do know what a refugium is, it's a place where 'things' can grow and not be devoured by the fish and other animals in the main display tank.

From my point of view, those 'things' include macro algaes :)
