So I built an intank refuge about 7"x7"x7" and its in the corner of my tank. I found a square piece of plastic. Put a lid on it with plastic hinges so i can open the top. I built it for copepods to feed my mandarin. My question is. What should I put in there to get a good colonization of copepods: chaeto or rubble rock or a combination of both? right now I have a small 1lb rock and a tennis ball size of chaeto, but I can fit more. should I stuff in a much as i can?

I would leave it with what you have to start, cheato will grow and need room.

Cut some holes in it to allow for some circulation in there otherwise it will get very stagnant. Don't need too terribly many, but a few would be benneficial I think.

You can put a piece of a sponge in there, or 5X5X5 piece of polyester filter material... something like that... pods love this type of material

ohh, I had a sponge in there and threw it out when I got the chaeto, I guess I should have left it in there.
