My 100g tank has a 20g long sump, with just a return pump area, and an area for the skimmer. I would like to put the refugium in a seperate tank next to the sump. Could I put a siphon from the return side of the sump, to the refug, and a small pump back to the sump? My sump has a LOT of flow, probably too much for a refug.

that would be nearly impossible because of differing flow rates, but what you can do is drill your fuge and elevate it above the sump, adding a bulkhead and plumbing allowing gravity to do the work for you..

You can use a plastic rubbermaid container. Maybe 5 gallons or whatever will fit. Make sure it's on a stand so its a few inches higher than your sump. Drill a bulkhead in the side of the plastic container at water level and have a pipe draining from the fuge down to the sump. And just use a small pump to pump water from your sump up to the fuge.
I wouldn't play around with siphons on a fuge. Too much work to get the flow right. Let gravity work for you.

i have mine set up like this. I run a T of of main line right to the fuge. with a Ball vaulve help keep flow at desired level. then drilled fuge to return to sump.

    I would avoid the siphon.

I have two 10 gal tanks. One for my fuge and one for my sump. I also use a T arrangement to adjust the flow into each. You don't need to keep the fuge tank at a higher level than your sump tank. Since the pump is in your sump water naturally flow from the fuge to the sump.

I have a 10 gal Rubbermaid Brute with a DSB/Fuge next to my 20 gallon sump. T'ed off the return line with an overflow box back to the same bulkhead my return pump is in. Also, with a ball valve to regulate nice slow flow trough the fuge. The fuge must be a few inches higher, and it works great.
